It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.
