From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party access places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
