Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
